"Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening."

Come little children

Sunday is Holloween! Holloween! I know, I know, thirteen is a little old to be Trick or Treating and such, but I saw you're never too old for sugar. :D I'm dressing up as a Special, which is pretty much the super spies of the Uglies series by Scott Westerfield. If you have not read these books, you need to. They are absolutely epic. Anyhow, it means that I get to wear all black, Doc Martin knock offs, ruby red lipstick, black eyeshadow, and liquid eyeliner tats. Pretty sexy. I know.

These are the five covers of the book that Scott Westerfield wrote in the Uglies trilogy. Oops, I forgot Bogus to Bubbly, but that's just a little handbook on how Scott came up with the idea for Uglies. Uglies, Pretties, Specials, and Extras are the actual books, and Mindrain is sort of a discussion on how the book is a sort of break down of real life. I need to read that one still. :* Here is the plot intro of the first book. I won't do the summary, because that would be a total spoiler to those who haven't read them. I also need to read the Midnighters series, also be Scott Westerfield. A fellow Westerfield follower told me that they were a must-read.

The Uglies series is set at least a few centuries in the future, after current civilization was destroyed by a bacterium which de-established all petroleum products, causing widespread chaos. The survivors of this disaster established cities much smaller than those currently existing, each of which is independently governed with limited traveling. At the age of sixteen, each person undergoes an operation which boosts their immune system and reflexes while giving them well-proportioned, symmetrical faces based on an international standard, so that all pretties look nearly identical. Later operations follow to show signs of increasing age while maintaining this beauty. Before they receive the operation, children are referred to as "uglies", and are kept separate from their older friends.

Got that off of Wikipedia, just an FYI.

But yeah. And I just found out that a movie is coming out in 2011. So happy! Or, should I be bubbly and say happy-making? :) But yeah. That's the Uglies. I love them.

Anywho, inspiration post! Inspire away.

Alrighty. Credits.

Ballerina painting, black and white lift photo, pretty painting, and a delicate lace dress.

I was lazy and didn't post many inspiration pictures, even though I got a ton of pictures, because it takes wayyyy too long to credit. O.o I'm lazy. I know.

Alrighty, that's all for today!

Remember me

Bad, Amy! BAD, Amy! How could you forget to post on this blog? HOW COULD YOU??? Honestly, I just haven't been all that enthusiastic about fashion lately... But I went shopping today! :D Only got two things; A pair of Kathy Van Zeeland shoes, and a French Exchange sweater. When I wear them together I look like a pimped skate boarder. The shoes are sneakers (I was debating getting a pair of super cute heels, but they were so high, they were sorta slutty, so I decided against it) and they are a sort of gray camo print on the sides with a clear sequin overlay to give a more feminine edge. The sweater is just a forest green/charcoal gray stripe hoodie. together, about a $180 purchase. :3 I'm expensive. I really wanted to get this red cashmere sweater, because my winter wardrobe is sort of lacking right now. :P But, I figured that a 13 year old who needs to get some of their outfits drycleaned is a leeeeettle over the top, don't you?

I would post pictures, but for some reason my camera has been on some weird setting so all of my day pictures just look plain creepy.

Urg I feel like my inspiration folder is running sorta low, so unless I'm gonna start repeating pics (WHICH I'M NOT) I'll have to work on filling it back up. Anyhow, enjoy these ones.

Not very many, I know, but as I said, I'm running out of pics. Whoops. Can't find the links to the sites, so I can't post those either. I feel so out of it.

All for today.

Obsessed

Baby sitted for, like, 7 hours last night. So tired today, but I made almost a hundred dollars. Louis Vuitton necklace/ Christian Louboutain shoes/ Burberry bag/ Micheal Kors coat/ Alexander McQueen leggings, here I come! Sorta. Then this morning, I ended up getting into the mega frustrated with my boyfriend levels. I made another bad picture on MS Paint to express my annoyance, but it's too strange and embarrassing to post on the internet. I'm just feeling really suffocated right now. Maybe my parents are right and 13 is too young to have a boyfriend. Ah well. We'll see how things play out.

Anyhow, inspiration post today! Enjoy.

All for today.

Let's do the time warp again

Ahhh I was watching Top Hats the other day. It's a old black and white musical, which should give you a bit of an idea about when it was made. But, watching it made me realize that in most black and white movies, the actresses sort of have that same, princessy look. Flawless skin (cept for maybe a mole), long eyelashes, uber thin eyebrows, and dark lips with the sort of half straight/half curly hair.

Top: Vivien Leign. Middle: Ginger Rogers. Bottom: Audrey Hepburn.

Is it just me who sees the similarities?

I just loved this overall look, so I couldn't help making a post on it. A short post, which is sorta unusal for me, but a post all the same.

All for today! (strange ain't it) Glad I actually posted something!

Dear God. Make me a bird so I can fly, far, far away from here.

Uh. I've just been sooo completely out of it this past week. My budget (and diet, for that matter) have gone the tubes within a few days, the homework is piling up, I was sick yesterday, and I am utterly fed up with everyone and everything. I was annoyed that the band kids had consortion practice all day today. I'm mad that I have to actually pack a cold lunch (which was in the said diet) for a field trip to a musical that won't even cut that much into actual school time. I'm mad that nothing in any of the Spring 2011 collections seem to have any pop, sparkle, pizazz! It's just one of those Me vs. World weeks.

That was a good movie, by the way. Saw it with some friends when it first came out. I was pleasantly surprised, considering that it was based on a comic book.

Anyhow, this isn't a movie review blog, yes? Well, I'm not exactly going to pull a Tavi and disappear for a couple weeks, leaving only a picture of a pair of unwearable shoes to fill in the gap. So, I guess the posts won't be quite as frequent, but I don't plan on disappearing entirely. But, since I don't have much runway material to work with, I believe I'll just have an inspiration post today. I AM PLANNING TO HAVE AN OUTFIT POST SOON. Just an fyi. Oh, before I forget, I've decided to actually save up some money and buy something nice for a change. Unlike me, I know. I'm down to these things, but I'm unsure of the purse because the site I'm getting it from seems a bit seedy.
